• Actualmente vivo y trabajo en Madrid desde Septiembre y ahora estoy preparando las maletas para volver a Sevilla a finales de Junio.

    Desde que me fui me he sentido fuera de lugar, en el extranjero, no me relaciono igual, no me expreso igual. No hablo mal, no me falta vocabulario pero no me entienden. Tengo que pensar cada frase meticulosamente antes de decirla por miedo a que no vayan a entender alguna expresión que diga. Hasta cierto punto puedo entenderlo, no tienen porque conocer expresiones y vocabulario que allí se usa, yo no entendería a alguien si me hablara en gallego.

    Lo que no puedo comprender es que se rian de mi acento, que me de miedo a decir algo que suene "más andaluz de la cuenta" y me imiten durante semanas porque les hace gracia. Que a andaluces les pidan esconder su forma de hablar, o que digan cierta palabra porque suena gracioso. Que en mi cara digan que si quisiera hacer esto más divertido lo haría con acento andaluz o que tiene que llover en Semana Santa para que los sevillanos salgan llorando en la tele.

     Lo que no puedo comprender es que Rosalía use el "illo" porque le quede bien en una canción y a mi me miren raro cuando lo uso fuera de Andalucía.

    No olvidemos que no hace mucho tiempo en una entrevista a Melody le decían: ¿Cómo es que siendo de Dos Hermanas hablas tan fino? ¿Has estudiado?

     Desde que me fuí he descubierto que cosas que creía ya olvidadas siguen tan vivas como siempre. El andaluz sigue siendo el hazmereír, el inculto, el creyente, el flojo. A Andalucía solo se la quiere cuando vas de fiesta o a veranear. Pensaba que iba a ser yo la que tendría más prejuicios en contra de los madrileños.

    Desde que me fuí me he sentido más andaluza que nunca, me siento segura al hablar usando mi acento, venero lo ingenioso de nuestras expresiones y he escuchado más flamenco que nunca. De esto último sobre todo tiene culpa haber escuchado a mi prima cantar y que me llegue al alma, y no, no tiene ningún disco, ni se ha subido a un escenario. Porque para mi el flamenco es algo que se siente y se respeta, no algo que se intepreta.

     No vengo a juzgar su música, ni mucho menos a decir que Rosalía o cualquier persona no pueda ni cantar, ni sentir el flamenco por no ser ni andaluza, ni gitana. Sería hipocrita y absurdo, por esa regla yo no podría cantar blues o no podría dibujar manga.

    Lo que todavía sería más hipócrita, sería que el público y la crítica ignorara a Miyazaki o a BB King porque yo haya decidido hacer lo mismo con un buen marketing.

     Hablemos de Elvis, el rey del Rock & Roll, hablemos de como modificaban canciones como Hound Dog, originarias del Rhythm and Blues e interpretadas por afroamericanos, para hacerlas más aptas para el público blanco americano. Hablemos también de cómo el propio termino Rock & Roll viene de la jerga usada por afroamericanos.

     Ni siquiera he entrado a hablar de la cultura gitana, la que solo interesa cuando nos explican con todo detalle en la tele como es una boda gitana. Eso lo defiende mucho mejor Noelia Cortés y Rafael Buhigas.

    Para resumir me quedo con las palabras de Noelia Cortés en su artículo para Jenesaisp    op;

     "Quizá haya que dejar de llamar a Rosalía la cara joven del flamenco o la mujer flamenca de esta época y mirar a Alba, a Marina García y a las de dentro un poquito más. Sin dejar por ello de escuchar o de adorar a la otra."
    Solo me quedan dos cosas que añadir:

    1. En mi humilde opinión Fuel Fandango me ha revolucionado más el flamenco.

    2. Gracias Madrid por volverme más andaluza de lo que nunca he sido.

  • It's been a while since I wrote something here, as an apology I have to say I've been tremendously busy at work and also dealing with deadlines and commissions. But I'm really happy about all the results and I hope to show all of it soon.

    So today I bring you something I wanted to talk about for a while now.
    In October 21st to October 23rd I attended Hsiao-Ron Cheng first ever workshop (Galería Roja, Seville). The main purpose of the workshop was to learn how to paint digitally with photoshop, and because lately I've been trying to add color to my pencil drawings and portraits digitally I had to take this opportunity. Besides that I loved Hsia-Ron's work even before I known her as an artist. (I've been reblogging her stuff on tumblr for such a long time without knowing her name)

    As always workshops are such a great experience that allow you to connect with succesfull artists and learn from them, not only techniques but also how to approach to a client, how to build your style, etc. And Hsiao-Ron was not exception to that.

    Del 21 de octubre al 23 de octubre asistí, en la Galería Roja (Sevilla) al primer workshop de Hsiao-Ron Cheng. El objetivo principal fue aprender a pintar digitalmente con Photoshop, y como últimamente he estado intentando agregar color a mis dibujos a lápiz y retratos digitalmente tuve que aprovechar esta oportunidad. Además, me encantaba el trabajo de Hsia-Ron incluso antes de que yo la conociera como artista. (He estado reblogueando sus cosas en tumblr mucho tiempo sin saber quien era)

     Como siempre los whorkshops son una gran experiencia que te permiten conectar con grandes artistas y aprender de ellos, no sólo las técnicas, sino también cómo acercarse a un cliente, cómo construir su estilo, etc. Y Hsiao-Ron no fue una excepción.


    She showed us the whole process of her digital painting, doing it live and them we tried to mimic it to learn her tecniques. This is the first result:

    Nos enseñó todo el proceso de su pintura digital, en vivo(una pasada) y los tratamos de imitar para aprender sus técnicas. Este es el primer resultado:



    On the following days what I personally tried to do with her help, was to adapt what she showed us to my own style so I picked one of my drawings.

     En los siguientes días lo que personalmente traté de hacer con su ayuda, fue adaptar lo que ella nos mostró a mi propio estilo así que escogí uno de mis dibujos.




    And then I added color digitally
    Y le añadí color digitalmente




    Basically this workshop helped me a lot in taking a few steps forward to develop my own and personal art. Even though I still work with different styles like in this comic, this one and of course Piruli&Pituki.
    I love the final result and I'm already using this techniques in my latest works than I'll show soon.

     Básicamente este workshop me ayudó mucho para avanzar en mis propias ilustraciones. Aunque todavía trabajo con diferentes estilos como en este cómic, éste y por supuesto Piruli & Pituki.
    Me encanta el resultado final y ya estoy usando estas técnicas en mis últimas trabajos que los enseñaré muy prontito :)

  • It seems like I just have time to draw/post about are my favorites of the month. And that it is exactly what is like.
    So here are some of the things I liked this month.

    1. New Sandals
    It's summer and the only sandals I got are broken so I needed new ones. I completely love them even they are high they are very comfortable ❤

    2. NYX Liquid Lipsticks
    I really wanted the NYX Lingerie for so long and they don't sell them were I live. To my surprise I found NYX shops when I visited Madrid this month. I couldn't draw them with they true colours so here they are a Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Transylvania and a NYX Lingerie in the shade Honeymoon.

    3. Wonder Girls - Why So Lonely
    Great song, great music video, great photography. I am completely in love, I'm even preparing some illustrations about it.

    What can I say? I watched Finding Nemo on the cinema when I was 12 and 12 years later here it's Dory. Love it since the short film of the beginning, especially baby Dory ❤

    6. Orphan Black season 4 
    I been waiting a year for it, then I waited three months until Netflix Spain added it. And after all this waiting I watched it in just 3 days. I loved it more than I expected but now I'm back to waiting. And the final episode was so interesting. I need more!

    I visited my friends in Madrid and we ate a lot of sushi.
